All I Want Christmas To Be

Is Christmas still how it used to be
Eyes shining bright like the Christmas tree
When fairies and reindeer would come out play
With us snotty nosed kids for a day

The night before Christmas I spotted an elf
Dangling its feet from the kitchen shelf
And then it was gone in the blink of an eye
No surprise, 'cause I knew they are shy

That is all that I want Christmas to be
A time when we all come together to see
How the fairies dance in the tree
That’s all I want Christmas to be

I remember when snowflakes tasted so sweet
And icicles were our favourite treat
And we laughed when our tongues would get
stuck to the ice
Yes it hurt but we still did it twice

Time wasn’t something to be measured with clocks
We’d only go home once wet to our socks
Somehow soup tasted better with rosy red cheeks
Those are the memories for keeps

That is all that I want Christmas to be
A time when we all come together to see
How the fairies dance in the tree
That’s all I want Christmas to be

When the music was playing, the family sang
Our eyes got bigger as the jingle bells rang
We’d rush to the tree, such a magical sight
And it felt like the world was alright

Candy and glitter all over the tree
Small paper angels were waving at me
And the living room glowed, almost sparkled with joy
We saw magic in every toy

That is all that I want Christmas to be
A time when we all come together to see
How the fairies dance in the tree
That’s all I want Christmas to be

That is all that I want Christmas to be
A bagful of miracles under the tree
And the fairies smiling at me
That’s all I want Christmas to be

That is all that I want Christmas to be
A time when we all come together to see
How the fairies dance all over the tree

That’s all I want Christmas
That’s all I want Christmas to be
