Waiting For The Waiter – Lyrics

Waiting For The Waiter

Hey waiter, did you see the signs
I’ve been waving for so long
and I am running out of time
There’s an awful lot of things I need to rearrange
And I have paid my bill, so please
Bring me the change

Hey waiter, tell me where have you been
I’ve been stuck in here for hours
You were nowhere to be seen
There is something ‘bout this place
That just feels a little strange
So make your way right over here
And please
Bring me the change

Why don’t you show up, why don’t you come here, please
See, I’m already, yeah, I’m already on my knees
I wonder why this takes so long
Cause I can see you running
You seem so busy trying to satisfy your clientele
But the change ain’t coming

Hey waiter, don’t you hear the rain
It’s been pouring down for days and now it rains again
We should leave and move uphill to the mountain range
Before the flood is gonna come, so please
Bring me the change
You gotta bring me the change

I wonder why this takes so long
Cause I can see you running
You seem so busy trying to satisfy your clientele
But the change ain’t coming

Hey waiter, I remember your face
I could swear that I have met you somewhere
In a different place
Feels like you’ve played this game forever
and it’s awfully deranged
I call it “Waiting for the water to bring us the change”

A simple song about being short changed? There’s a lot going on in the interpretation of these words. Released in 2017 – ‘There is something bout’ this place that just feels a little strange’. There is so much nonsense going on at the moment in 2023. We are “Waiting for the waiter to bring us the change” Please Waiter don’t wait too long……..

I find that happening in many of the Twins original songs where you can interpret the lyrics as light as you want or easily find the deeper meanings they are probably going for. A real talent and also a real treat.

I agree with Steve’s comment. There are so many different directions you can go on the interpretation of this song. The one thing I’m certain of, the girls aren’t waiting on coins. I have to admit, the first time I heard this song, I took it literally and compared to rest of their work, this one wasn’t near the top of the list. But, after going thru these lyrics and… Read more »
