About the Song

“We’ve been told that young and old could learn from each other …” There was a time in the 60s when hopes rose high that love and understanding could finally prevail against the focus on and worship of differences. A spark got ignited that might have inspired a younger generation of songwriters like the MonaLisa Twins to learn and work together with their heros.

This song features John Sebastian on blues harp. John was the front man and songwriter in “The Lovin Spoonful” (Summer In The City, Day Dream, Do You Believe In Magic) and said this after hearing the MonaLisa Twins’ music for the first time:

“They’re fabulous, sure as you’re born! I would seriously enjoy playing on their next project.”

The MonaLisa Twins took him up on that offer, and shortly after starting working on their album, they selected two songs for which John would be predestined to play on and for which he would later indeed contribute his harmonica playing to. “Waiting For The Waiter” is the second one which is track #6 on the album ORANGE.

“Once Upon A Time” is a song about going forward while learning from the past generation and a nod to the great musical pioneers of the 60s.
