David, Philip Bailey had been a singer and one of the leading figures of the group “Earth, Wind & Fire” since 1972. He wrote several of the band’s well-known songs and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame for his work. The song “Easy Lover” from 1984 was a great success for the duo.

The interesting thing about this duet is that Namika adapts her singing style to match ZAZ. The way she pronounces or emphasizes words, as well as her singing rhythm, is a successful imitation of ZAZ’s vocal style, only in German.

Well, David, there are lyrics you understand right away—like in “I Saw Her Standing There.” And then there are lyrics that leave plenty of room for interpretation.
