Tim, just to say that I don’t think that we can blame ONJ for the song choice as I seem to recall that, during much of the 60s and 70s, the BBC choose 6 prospective songs for each ESC artist to sing on a show and then the viewers would choose the one that they liked most to go forward to the contest. Never heard that before, Jürgen, but it’s pretty good. Personally, I prefer Robert Palmer’s solo version.

He was originally from a British boy band called Take That, who had a huge, mainy female, following and had lots of singles that were hits in the UK. He left the band to pursue an equally successful solo career.
