Cuando Paul la grabó en 2012, confesó que no conocía la canción hasta que Diana Krall se la mostró. Él buscaba canciones que no fueran las de siempre, de esas que son ya obligatorias para muchos, y esta le pareció tan perfecta que no pudo dejarla fuera. En 1947 ​originalmente, la música fue compuesta por Guy Wood con letra de Jack Lawrence. En ese entonces, la canción se titulo "Music from Beyond the Moon". Grabada por Vic Damone en 1948 y por Tony Martin en 1949. ​Ambas versiones pasaron totalmente desapercibidas y la canción parecía destinada al archivo de temas olvidados. En 1953 Robert Mellin decidió darle una nueva oportunidad. Reorganizó la melodía y letra, haciéndola mucho más romántica y poética, y se convirtió en "My One and Only Love" para su nueva oportunidad. Frank Sinatra la grabó e inmortalizó por primera vez con su nuevo título junto con la orquesta de Nelson Riddle. Pero Aunque Sinatra la hizo popular, la versión que la convirtió en un himno para los músicos de jazz fue la de John Coltrane y Johnny Hartman en 1963. Esa interpretación es considerada por muchos críticos como una de las baladas más bellas de la historia de la música grabada. Paul McCartney y Diana Krall hicieron esta sentida versión acompañados de la London Symphony Orchestra en un concierto íntimo desde los icónicos Capitol Studios en Los Ángeles. Esta colaboración no solo se hace importante porque involucra a grades de la música, sino porque Diana Krall no solo tocó el piano, sino que fue la directora musical de todo el proyecto de McCartney. They are mother and daughter. Mother Mery was Italian (the breed is Lagotto Romagnolo, Italian water dog from Romagna, “lago” means lake in Italian), on the picture she sits on my wife’s lap on her left side and flies through the air over the field on the other picture. Nella the daughter is trying to keep up with her Mom! 🙂…

Apropo different music styles, we were listening to Francesca Tandoi at the Fasching Jazz Club in Stockholm on Tuesday. She was fantastic and very nice. I bought her latest album and got to hold her magic hand for a moment – it was soft as velvet! 🙂
